MAKING BEATS

Next Making Beats Meetings:  We'll be at our Back to School Kick Off at Kenmoor Middle School on September 19, 2009 from 10am to 1pm.

Beat Time will be on every Friday night from 6pm to 8:00pm.  This first program runs from October 23rd to November 20th 2009 and the 2nd session will start on December 4th to January 15, 2010.

General information:  Students will be offered a chance to get inside the music industry by providing the essential tools for recording music and making beats.

Program:   A workshop called “Making Beats: And the Fundamentals of Recording” will give students an opportunity to have hands-on experience on the new digital technology that has made creating music easier and is giving everyone more access to the music industry.  By learning about digital audio workstations, students will be able to produce, edit and package their own songs.

Some of the topics covered in the workshop are signal paths and flow, audio equipment, music theory, software programs, song structure, sampling, CD production, and beat blueprints.

Business and government support:  We have partnered with De-U Records and other local DJs and Sound Technicians.  Our goal is to work with TV and radio stations to identify internships.  Students will also be given the opportunity to accompany the Gaming Committee at different parties and community events to show off their beats.

Fee: $75 – Beat Time
