David Ramirez
Machine Learning Engineer
General Dynamics Mission Systems
“Engineering is a fun, challenging, and rewarding career; but you must go to college or university and work harder than other people. If you don’t know how to get to college, or you don’t know how to work hard, join the military. The military will shape you into a better you and pay for college. To get to the military you must stay away from drugs, gangs, and illegal activity. If you want to change your life for the better, you must stay out of trouble.”
David Ramirez lives and works in Phoenix, Arizona, at General Dynamics Mission Systems, where he is a Machine Learning Engineer for cyber applications. He develops code and algorithms which teach computers how to make decisions. This new technology enables apps like voice recognition and picture tagging. To learn and master this skill, David has completed 8 years at Arizona State University. He has earned a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, and is working towards a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering.
Before General Dynamics, machine learning, university, or research, David joined the United States Marine Corps. This gave him a direction in life. His military missions have taken him around the world to almost a dozen countries, including Singapore, United Arab Emirates, Hong Kong, and Japan. While in the military, part of his job was to repair handheld radios (military cell phones) and computers. David grew up without a purpose. Today he enjoys every day as an engineer.
